OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC SWIMMING TRIALS RETURN TO TPASC IN 2028

The Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials will return to the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in 2028. 

TPASC hosted the Trials in 2016, and again in 2021 after the 2020 event was postponed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The seven-day fully integrated meet is scheduled for June 2-8, 2028, and will serve as Swimming Canada’s main selection meet for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 

“It is great that Swimming Canada continues to be well planned and prepared, as we focus on the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, but also have a well-structured strategy to the 2028 Games in LA,” said Swimming Canada High Performance Director and National Coach John Atkinson. 

Swim Ontario led the bid to bring the event back for 2028, in the world-class pool that has hosted the 2015 Pan American Games and multiple other national and international events, including last year’s Canadian Swimming Trials and Swimming World Cup, both of which saw world record performances. 

“In a relatively short period of time, TPASC has already hosted many fantastic swimming moments and been a part of history. It is a fantastic legacy of the 2015 Pan Am Games, and we are thrilled to be back here on our road to LA for our 2028 Olympic and Paralympic team trials,” Atkinson said.

“Swim Ontario is pleased to partner with Swimming Canada and the great community of Ontario volunteers and officials to host the 2028 Trials at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre,” added Swim Ontario CEO Dean Boles. “TPASC continues to provide an environment to earn success due to world-class people working together at a world-class facility here in Toronto.”

Swimming Canada expects to announce its full slate of 2025-2028 event dates and host locations in early 2024. This includes the annual Trials in non-Olympic/Paralympic years, Canadian Open, Masters championships, Open Water Festival, and Ken Demchuk International Invitational.
